Lindsay Mason

Owner of Black and Tortie (in more ways than one!)

BACKGROUND

I started making paper flowers for my own wedding in 2015. Having loved books all my life, I wanted some book-themed decorations and decided to make some vintage paper roses for the venue. We were very lucky as we were allowed to do pretty much what we wanted and it meant I could take control and go mad creating! In the end, I decorated the entire venue which made it very special and personal for us. The theme also took on a new life with lots of Alice in Wonderland wedding touches!

I even made the buttonholes and my mum and dad still have theirs in a little vase.

I love the way my butterfly bouquet really jumps out of the photos and matched our colour theme – all of them! I still have it on the shelf above my desk in Black and Tortie HQ (my attic workshop).

However, I was not the first one in our house to make paper flowers. After a wonderful first date with my now husband, he was late arriving for the second. His excuse? He had been learning to make origami roses for me! Guess what? I still have those too xx

BLACK AND TORTIE

Black and Tortie is named after Meg and Mog our rescue kitties. Your purchases help put food in their tummies, for which Mog in particular is very grateful!
